Off to the Races
Red Mile’s racing season begins in July and ends in October. Our racing meet opens with the Kentucky Sire Stakes and culminates on Super Night with over $2 million in purses.
During the final two weeks of our racing season, the Grand Circuit series comes to Lexington. The elite in Standardbred Racing are showcased in races like the Kentucky Futurity, the third jewel in Trotting’s Triple Crown. Filly trotters vie for their own trophy in the Kentucky Filly Futurity, while the country’s top three year-old pacers are featured in the Tattersalls Pace. Throughout this two week period, patrons will experience the excitement of the International Stallion Stakes, the Bluegrass Series, and the Glenn Garnsey. The Allerage for Aged horses completes the picture, proving that horses only get better with time.
“To hear the crowd when they announced 1:19.2, the crowd behind him cheering- that they wanted to see something like that- you can’t bottle that, you can’t repeat it, you can’t duplicate it, and you can’t tell somebody what it is, you have to be there. It’s just phenomenal. There’s no better place in racing to win a big race than Red Mile.”
